Robotic and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery
Many gynecologic conditions can be treated with medical treatments.
If medical treatment fail, then surgery may be an option. We offer
gynecologic consultation to discuss the
evidence-based treatment recommendations for your specific condition.
If you need surgery, our physicians are trained in robotic and minimally
invasive surgical techniques to treat your gynecologic condition.
Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery
Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery involves inserting a camera and
instruments into the abdomen and pelvis through small abdominal
incisions to perform the surgical procedure. In contrast to open
surgeries with large abdominal procedures, minimally invasive surgical
procedures allow patients to have less post-operative pain and shorter
recovery times. Patients can go home as soon as three hours after
the surgery after some procedures, but may need to be in the hospital
overnight for more complex procedures.
Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Procedures:
- Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
- Ovarian Removal
- Tubal Sterilization
- Diagnostic Laparoscopy
Robotic Surgery
Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery using the
da Vinci® Surgical System. This surgical system gives our
surgeons a 3D view of the surgical field and the robotic instruments
mimic the full range of motion of the surgeon's hand movements in order
to complete the procedure. Robotic surgery is used to perform
complex gynecologic surgeries that otherwise might require a larger
abdominal incision.
