The
lab practical is being given in 3 parts (the maximum time for each part
of the exam is 35 minutes—see next page).
The class will be divided into 6 groups (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2) and
each group will take the 3 parts of the lab practical on a rotational basis
according to the schedule on the second page.
Five minutes prior to the start of each exam, you will fill out
paperwork and listen to instructions.
Bring only a #2 lead pencil.
Part I (MS 233): Lab Skills. Evaluation of skills and tests utilized in the laboratory for identifying an organism or phenotypes of an organism (5 to 10 points). You will have 35 minutes to complete the tasks in any order you choose (Just remember you must be done in 35 minutes)
Part II (MN 263): Medical
Mycology. A slide presentation will
accompany 10 questions on medical mycology.
You will be given a time limit for each question/picture as will be
discussed by Dr. Goodman on the day of the exam. Maximum time for this part of the exam is 35 minutes.
Part III (MN 342 or MN 442): Demonstrations. This exam consists of
15 questions with the answers based mostly on demonstrations at each station
(15 stations total, one question per station).
You will be given two minutes to answer the question at each station
before you will be asked to rotate to the next station in an orderly
manner. At the end of this test, you
will be given whatever time is left of the 35 minutes (probably 3 to5 minutes)
to reevaluate your answers (during this
free-for-all for Part III, please limit your return visits to 30 sec. per
station so that your colleagues will have a chance to return to the various
stations). Maximum time for this
part of the exam is 35 minutes
The Rotation Schedule for Friday, Oct. 27th is shown below—please be prompt for each part of the exam as testing begins at the times listed below. The 5 min. prior to each testing period will be used to fill out paperwork and listen to instructions (you will not have time to do this once testing begins). You should have nothing else with you during the exam except for a #2 lead pencil. If you choose to return the “Medical Mycology” monograph, give it to an instructor or TA when you first enter the testing area at 1 p.m. and have them check your name off the list.
