Nursing student to speak at 141st
University of Kentucky Commencement ceremony
Christine Tillman, a May 2008 graduate of the
University of Kentucky College of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science
in Nursing Program, will be the student speaker at the
University’s 141st commencement ceremony on Sunday,
May 4, 2008.
During her undergraduate
career, Tillman
was president of her graduating nursing class and
an active member of the University Nursing Activities and
Advisor Council. During her term as president, she has been an
important participant in several community and charitable
events.
During her junior year, she was a member of a mission team that
traveled to Belize, where she spent two weeks providing care to
an underserved population. She also represented the College of
Nursing as a”SEEDS” peer educator for the Violence Intervention
and Prevention program. Tillman attended the program’s
conference and has been instrumental in disseminating
information to her peers.
she is from Paducah, Ky.
Several candidates were
nominated by faculty in their colleges.
The Student Speaker
Sub-committee of University Commencement Committee, chaired by
Dr. Todd R. Cheever of the College of Medicine recommended
Tillman to President Lee T. Todd, Jr. to be the student
commencement speaker. Dr. Todd selected her for the honor.
