College of Nursing Undergraduate Scholarship/Financial Awards
In
addition to the many University scholarships available to
students enrolled in all colleges, the College of Nursing has
several scholarships available to students indicating an
interest in nursing as a major. Scholarships awarded to nursing
students illustrate the support extended by alumni and friends,
professional, and community institutions associated with the
College. The amount of the award is dependent upon funds
available from the contributing donors. Several undergraduate
scholarships/financial awards are awarded each year by the
College of Nursing to students at different levels. Funds for
awards vary according to the support and specifications of each
scholarship/financial award. Awards are
for one year and students must reapply each year to receive a
scholarship.
Qualifications
Generally, applicants must be admitted to the College of Nursing. In addition to the
academic record, other factors which weigh heavily in the
evaluation of scholarship applicants include extracurricular
activities, work experience, awards and recognition, community
involvement, recommendations and a personal essay. Interviews
may be requested by the Scholarship/Financial Awards Committee.
Scholarship/Financial Awards committees will review applications
for the appropriate scholarship based on the individual
applicant’s qualifications and the specifications of the
scholarship/financial award. The amount
of scholarship awards, when added to other sources of financial
aid, may not exceed the total annual cost of attendance as
determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
