Medical Center Weapons Policy and Procedures (10/14/94)
Policy
This policy governs the possession and use of firearms, ammunition
and other dangerous weapons. It is applicable to all staff,
faculty, students, patients and visitors.
For the purposes of this policy, a deadly weapon is defined as an
object which is capable of causing death or serious physical
injury.
No firearms, ammunition, or dangerous weapons are allowed in
buildings, University vehicles or facilities of the Medical
Center.
The only exceptions to this policy will be for University Police
officers, or civil law enforcement officers who are required to
carry firearms or weapons when in discharge of their official
duties, and private police or security personnel when hired by, or
under contract with the University. Law enforcement officers who
are attending school as students must keep their weapons concealed
unless they are wearing a uniform.
