Student Activities
University
UK offers a wide variety of activities for
students. You will find campus life more meaningful through
participation in scholastic, social, and service activities. We
encourage you to participate in activities for which you are
eligible or interested.
College of Nursing Ambassador
Program
The College of Nursing Ambassador Program provides an opportunity
for outstanding students within the College of Nursing to
represent the College relative to recruitment and public relations
activities. The College of Nursing invites undergraduate, graduate
and Good Samaritan Internship Program students who received their
baccalaureate degree from UK to apply. A
minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 is required for
invitation consideration. Invitations to apply are sent to
students at various times throughout the academic year. The
application process consists of completing an ambassador
application, two faculty recommendation/evaluation forms, and a
College of Nursing ambassador selection procedure schedule. A
college committee selects ambassadors at regular intervals,
maintaining an ongoing group of 12-14 students.
Kentucky Association of Nursing Students UK
Chapter (UKSNA)
The College of Nursing is proud to have an
association for nursing students which is a constituent member of
the Kentucky Association of Nursing Students (KANS) and The
National Association of Nursing Students (NSNA). NSNA is the
recognized pre-professional organization of nursing and is
affiliated with both The American Nurses' Association and The
National League for Nursing. As a College of Nursing student, four-year or R.N., you are eligible to join the organization. There is
an annual fee for membership. Contact our Office of Student
Services for membership information. We invite and encourage you
to become active members of this worthwhile organization.
College of Nursing Student Activities and
Advisory Committee (UNAAC)
The Undergraduate Nursing Activities and Advisory Council (UNAAC)
serves as a liaison between the dean of the college and students.
Its purpose is to provide undergraduate student input regarding
College procedures, activities, and evaluation. UNAAC fosters
communication among administrators, faculty, staff, and students
and serves as a liaison with Student Government Association. It
plans and carries out student social and service activities. UNAAC
identifies and promotes resources and support systems that
facilitate successful progress of undergraduates through the
baccalaureate program. UNAAC reviews and make recommendations to
the dean regarding course and faculty evaluation procedures,
proposed appointment and tenure of faculty members,
national/international activities, and undergraduate student
problems and concerns. UNAAC also conducts all undergraduate
student class officer election processes.
