Financial Aid
Graduate student assistantships are designed
not only to provide financial aid to graduate students, but also
to provide an opportunity for you to work closely with members of
the faculty in a collegial, learning relationship.
- Teaching assistants are appointed by the
assistant dean for advanced practice nursing. Research
assistants are appointed by the assistant dean for research and
the Ph.D. program. Each assistant receives a letter of
appointment indicating the duration of the appointment, the
stipend, and the faculty member with whom the student will work.
- Each assistant works with a faculty member
who is responsible for making the teaching and research
assignments and for mentoring the student.
- Graduate assistants in the M.S.N. and Ph.D.
programs are eligible for out-of-state tuition scholarships from
the Graduate School. All graduate assistants are eligible for
staff parking privileges, and a 10 percent bookstore discount. In
addition to the University orientation program, graduate
assistants attend a University orientation conference.
- Graduate assistants will not be required to
work more than an average of 15-20 hours a week.
- Graduate assistants may carry no more than 10
credit hours of course work per semester without approval of
their respective assistant dean.
- Graduate assistants must maintain an overall
3.0 GPA.
- Graduate assistant stipends are taxed as
income.
