Delta Psi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International
Sigma Theta Tau International is the nursing
profession's honor society.
Purposes of the Delta Psi Chapter are:

To strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the
profession
Eligibility
Master's students enrolled in the College of Nursing must have:
-
Achieved a 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale. GPA is computed on existing
grades. Transfer credits approved by our College and the
University as part of the cumulative scholastic record and
accepted as grades may be included when computing the GPA.

Completed one fourth of the required program of study (at least
12 semester hours). Refers to total number of semester hours not
nursing hours only.

Demonstrated ability in nursing

Demonstrated commitment to nursing

Demonstrated academic scholarship of a superior
quality
Doctoral students enrolled in nursing or a related field must
have:

Previous degree(s) in nursing
-
Achieved a 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. GPA is computed on existing
grades. Transfer credits approved by our College and the
University as part of the cumulative scholastic record and
accepted as grades may be included when computing the GPA.

Completed one fourth of the program (at least 12 semester
hours). Refers to total number of semester hours, not nursing
hours only.

Demonstrated academic scholarship of a superior
quality
NOTE: Graduates of the programs may be considered for STTI
membership under the respective student criteria for up to one
year after graduation.

Research/Scholarship Funds
Sigma Theta
Tau is committed to fostering nursing research and scholarship.
As one way of achieving this purpose, Delta Psi Chapter awards
funds for research. Application guidelines include the following
criteria:
- Funds are to be used for nursing research.
- Those eligible to apply include Delta Psi
Chapter members and registered nurses in Kentucky who:
- are matriculating for a master's or a
doctoral degree in nursing or a doctoral degree in a related
field, and who possess at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing,
or
- hold at least a master's degree in nursing
and are currently active in nursing practice, education, or
administration.
Application deadlines for research funds are
March 1 and October 1 of each year. Even though you
may be nearing completion of your studies, you are still
encouraged to apply. Money awarded can be used to offset
expenditures made while conducting your study.
Those eligible for scholarship awards should demonstrate the
following criteria:
- Delta Psi Chapter members who have been admitted
to a master's program with a major in nursing or a doctoral
program with a major in nursing or a related field.
- Students enrolled in the University of Kentucky
College of Nursing.
- Graduate students must have completed 9 semester
hours toward the M.S.N. or Ph.D. with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Applications may be considered in successive years.
Factors considered in selection of scholarship recipients:
- Priority will be given to members of Delta
Psi Chapter.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and
involvement in professional organizations
- Evidence of financial need
- Perceived role in nursing in the next 10
years
