Libraries
The main library on
campus is the William T. Young Library, which opened in April of 1998. This
library is in close proximity to the Medical Center. This building, which is
over 350,000 square feet in size, houses 1.2 million volumes. The library
includes 21 group study/seminar rooms and seating for 350 in
faculty/dissertation study areas. The library contains virtually all of the
scientific journals that are used as reference material by the training faculty,
or can obtain specific articles from other sources if necessary. Computer
facilities are available to students and faculty in the library. The library
maintains a large number of electronic journal subscriptions that are available
to the training faculty on their office computers, as well as remotely via
secure access through a proxy server. In addition the College of Medicine
maintains a smaller more focused library that contains most of the scientific
journals commonly used as resource material by the training faculty. Computers
are also available to faculty and students in the College of Medicine library,
and this library arranges for journals to be retrieved from the main library.
