NEUROLOGY RESIDENCY PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our Vision

Today’s neurologists must integrate an ever-growing knowledge base of information on diseases of the nervous system with other medical specialties. We have to make the best use of evolving diagnostic and therapeutic technologies to be effective leaders of multi-disciplinary neurological care teams.
The University Of Kentucky Department Of Neurology is proud of a long tradition of excellence in training in neurology. We started in the 1960's under the direction of the department's founder, Dr. David B. Clark. Our ACGME-accredited residency program has continued Dr. Clark's commitment to produce great clinical and research neurologists. We strive to bring out the best in our trainees and provide the background they need to succeed in their challenging and exciting careers.

Our Numbers

We are accredited by the ACGME for a total of 25 residents—20 for our adult neurology program, and 5 for our child neurology program. Our success in training was recognized and rewarded with substantial increases to our approved residency complement in 2007 and 2009.

More About Our Program

Adult Neurology: Our program is categorical, meaning it provides PGY-1 level training in addition to PGY levels 2-4. Our adult residency program accepts five residents per year.
Child Neurology: Our child neurology residency accepts one resident per year.
