ADAM LAWSON
Dr.
Adam L. Lawson received his Ph.D. in Psychology from
Oklahoma
State
University
with an emphasis in cognitive neuroscience. He went on to serve as
Assistant Professor in Psychology at Florida Southern College from 2000 to
2003. At the end of 2003, Adam joined the
University
of
Kentucky
as a post-doctoral fellow under the supervision of Yang Jiang, Ph.D. From
his initial training as a student, Adam has been interested in
higher-order cognitive processes and their underlying cortical mechanisms.
His graduate training focused on the cognitive processes involved in
memory and inhibitory mechanisms using EEG and behavioral measures.
Currently, Adam is concentrating on cortical mechanisms relating to
age-related effects of repetition priming and working memory performance
using both ERP and fMRI techniques. He is also involved in ERP and fMRI
studies examining cortical markers of drug abuse vulnerability and a study
examining the ability of resting EEG to facilitate the diagnosis of
Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment.
