retain good health through creative leadership and quality initiatives in education,
research and service.

Critical
Success Factors and their Measures
Critical Success Factors are the goals we
have developed to help us achieve our vision and mission at the University of
Kentucky Academic Medical Center. For the Medical Center to achieve its vision, and remain
patient centered and student oriented, we must:
1.
Improve academic and clinical access by attracting, and being good
stewards of, financial resources
· To
raise $234,000,000 in private funding over the next five years.
· Increase
extramural funding by 5 percent each year for the next five years
· Maintain
a 4 percent margin for reinvestment in clinical programs
· Increase
market share in three clinical products by 10 percent

Exceed patient and customer expectations
· Increase
satisfaction of students, patients, employees and referring practitioners by
appropriate surveys
· Increase
retention of existing UK Health Care patients by 2 percent annually
· Perform
above University Health Consortium benchmark in clinical outcomes in three
areas

Recruit and graduate
outstanding students
· Each
college will determine the most appropriate measure for itself.
4.
Attract, develop and retain high
caliber faculty and staff
· Increase
staff participation in personal and professional development programs by 5
percent annually
· Increase
faculty recognition, nationally and internationally by 2 percent annually

Develop an infrastructure that will
support a top 20 research program
· Increase
research space by 50 percent over five years
· Establish
and fully fund $100,000,000 research endowment over five years
· Increase
the number of research applications by 50 percent over five years
6. Create, and effectively utilize, information technology to support a
top-20
academic health center
· Increase
the number of clinicians to 50 percent who are utilizing information
technology to access clinical information
· Increase
the use of information technology in the Medical Center by 10 percent each
year
