ABOUT DR. IOCONO
Joseph A. Iocono, M.D. serves as the Associate Director of the MIS Center. He completed his undergraduate degree at Boston College with a dual major in Chemistry and Mathematics. He then completed medical school at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. For the next 8 years, he was at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, completing a residency in adult general surgery and an NIH-funded research fellowship in fetal scarless wound healing under the direction of Thomas M. Krummel, M.D.

In 2003, he completed a Pediatric surgery fellowship at St Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia with an emphasis on MIS techniques. He was appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatric Surgery at The University of Kentucky’s Children’s Hospital in July, 2003 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2009. As Associate Director of the MIS Center, Dr. Iocono will develop the Education curriculum and serve as liaison to the operating room products committee.
