Welcome from the ChiefsWelcome! We're glad you're interested in the Med-Peds program at UK. In our view, one of the biggest strengths of the program is our faculty. We are fortunate to have a great program director who is very dedicated to our program and is widely respected among the residents. He played a significant role in both of us coming to UK. In addition, there are general med-peds faculty and numerous subspecialty faculty providing a great med-peds presence throughout the hospital. The attendings are very personable and a great resource for teaching as well as career advice. Another reason we chose UK is the resident camaraderie. We are privileged to have a resident body that is easy to work with, fun to hang out with, and well respected in both categorical departments. Among all the residents and faculty, we have found the atmosphere here to be very supportive and collegial. We work well together and have fun outside the hospital. We also feel completely accepted in the medicine and pediatric programs while maintaining our own identity as med-peds residents (especially given our size relative to categorical programs). Finally, the last factor that attracted us to UK was the location. Lexington is a beautiful, small city with many amenities and few big city hassles. A few examples of things to do around Lexington include UK basketball, horse racing, hiking, and rock climbing. We have both enjoyed our time here and would definitely make the same choice. Please feel free to email us if there is anything else we can tell you about the program. In the meantime, check out our Facebook page (search: UK Med-Peds). We look forward to meeting you when you visit! Sincerely, John Ragsdale, MD & John Stewart, MD
