Mini Medical School

April 1
Location: UK College of Medicine

For many, the life of a medical student is a foreign adventure. In 2010, the College of Medicine will host a Mini-Medical School sessions during which business leaders, UK Women and Philanthropy group and Board of Trustees members will experience examples of the events and milestones medical students encounter in four years of training complete from white coat ceremony to graduation—all in one day. Throughout the nine-hour day, participants attend lectures, tour the gross anatomy lab as well as other labs conducting life-changing research, participate in clinical rotations with UK physicians, residents and students, and at the end each receives their ‘match day’ placement information for residency programs. The experience allows participants to understand the different aspects of becoming a physician—complete with the debt statement for four years of training—as well as UK’s involvement in research and progress made toward reaching Top 20 status.
