UK COM Physician Scientist and Clinical Scholars Program

Program Overview:
The specific focus of the UK College of Medicine Physician Scientist and Clinical Scholar Program is to support promising junior faculty members of the college in the early stages of career development in research. The Physician Scientist Program assists with the development of basic or translational research that does not include direct patient contact.  The Clinical Scholars Program promotes patient-oriented research which is defined as research conducted with human subjects for which the investigator directly interacts with human subjects.  Both of these programs will provide salary support for the faculty member up to a maximum of $90,000 per year for two years with an option for a third year of funding.  This program will be administered in accordance with NIH policy.  The overall goal of this program is to position the competitive candidate for extramural funding.
