The UK College of Medicine houses 14 clinical departments whose faculty and staff provide medical
care to the community and support the University Hospital. In addition, clinical faculty teach critical
components of the medical school curriculum and supervise medical students and residents on clinical
rotations. Faculty in the 6 basic science departments teach in the medical school curriculum, offer
courses to undergraduates and graduate students in multiple programs and present doctoral programs in
their respective disciplines. Research programs, many of them ranked in the top 20 in NIH funding to
public medical schools, can be found in clinical and basic science departments and in the multidisciplinary
centers organized to promote collaborative research across the College, the University and throughout
the U.S. Administrative offices support the patient care, academic and research programs of the UK
