Visiting Student Information for 2011-2012

Application information for the 2012-13 academic year will be posted by the end of February. Please do not submit any application materials until updated information is posted.

The Fourth-Year Visiting Student Program offers eligible medical students at other universities an opportunity to complete clinical clerkships with specialists at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

Eligibility

  • You must be a fourth-year medical student in good standing at the time of your rotation.
  • You must be enrolled in a school that is accredited by the United States Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  • You must be current on all of your immunizations. including measles, mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis and Tuberculosis.
  • You may do no more than three visiting rotations at the University of Kentucky.
  • All rotations are four weeks long. There are no exceptions.
  • All rotations take place during the scheduled rotation dates for the fourth-year class at the University of Kentucky.
  • You must submit an application to the Visiting Student Program that includes an official transcript, your CV, your USMLE or COMLEX scores, and a brief statement explaining why you are requesting this course at this time and how it pertains to your career plans.

  • FM-853 International Clerkship in Primary Care
  • FM-854 Acting Internship in Rural Family Practice

  • MD-842 Advanced Clinical Pharmacology and Anesthesiology
  • MED-890 Internal Medicine off-site
  • OBG-890 Obstetrics and Gynecology off-site
  • OPH -890 Ophthalmology off-site
  • PED-890 Community Pediatrics
  • PSC-890 Psychiatry off-site
  • SUR-866 Research in Surgery
  • SUR-890 Surgery off-site
