Sue Fosson loves the humanities and arts. Her passion for connecting the arts with science among medical students led to the founding of the University of Kentucky Medical Center Humanities Project while she was assistant dean of Student Affairs for the College of Medicine.

In July 2001, Fosson retired after more than 25 years in the Office of Academic Affairs. During her tenure Fosson made many contributions to enhance the College's education programs and was a counselor and champion of medical students. She worked in virtually every area of medical school administration; helped medical students chart career specialty choices; coached students in finance and time management; developed programs in medical professionalism; residency counseling; and served as a mentor to numerous students, faculty and staff colleagues. The UK College of Medicine's Medical Alumni Association recognized her contributions with conferral of the Honarary Alumnus Award.

To honor Fosson for her many years of service to the College and her love of humanities and the arts, the Office of Medical Education organizes the Sue Fosson Humanities Festival, an evening of music and entertainment, twice each year in November and April.
