The Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) Program is a federal program. There are NO primary service commitments in the SDS program. Students may qualify for the SDS based on:

• economically disadvantaged (based on a poverty level guideline that is established annually by the federal government; or
• disadvantaged due to some other factor which is viewed as inhibiting to the student from the standpoint of obtaining admission and/or completion of a medical education.

To be considered for the SDS program, you must submit parent income and asset information on the 2004-05 FAFSA or send it directly to the Financial Aid Office. You will also need to provide a copy of your parents' federal 2003 taxes. Do not submit estimated tax information.

If you want to apply for the SDS, complete the SDS Request Form (PDF). The form may be completed on your computer, printed, and then signed. The deadline for submitting it to the Financial Aid Office is May 1, 2004.

All recipients must meet disadvantaged student need criteria and may be requested to provide documentation of this status. The amount of the SDS award is dependent on annual federal funds.
