Spring 2008 Electives for First-Year and Second-Year Medical Students

What are these courses?
Electives are offered to provide students an opportunity to pursue individual interests. Electives are not a part of your required curriculum and, thus, enrollment is optional. All electives are pass/fail. Each student may take only one elective per semester.

When will spring electives be offered?
Spring electives will be offered at times noted in the course descriptions, from the week of Jan. 7 through the week of April 28. These electives are for first-year and second-year medical students.

Independent study and main campus course options:
A student may arrange her or his own elective with any faculty member in the College through an independent study format. A course description must be submitted with the registration form. Additionally, students may take other University courses as electives, provided schedules do not conflict and there is space available. (Distance Learning courses are not available.) Turn in a Registration Form (PDF) that includes the course title, course and section numbers, and instructor name to Beth Hartmann.

How to Register an Elective

1. Complete a Registration Form (PDF) - EVERY LINE (also available from the registrar, MN-103).
2. Have the form signed by the instructor or contact person.
3. Return the form to the Registrar no later than Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.
