OBJECTIVES: Familiarize student with evaluation of patients with tumors of the head and neck. Treatment planning, nutritional status, and post-operative follow-up and care are emphasized.

CONTENT AND METHOD OF TEACHING: The VA Head and Neck Oncology Clinic meets each Wednesday sfternoon. The student will participate in the outpatient clinical evaluation and care. Students are invited to attend multidisciplinary head and neck oncology treatment planning conferences on Tuesday 7-8 in the Combs building (1st floor conference room) as well.

Content of this elective may vary for students who are unable to attend on Wednesday afternoon.
