Graduation Requirements
All students must complete a minimum of eight fourth‑year, four‑week courses and the Dean's Colloquium for a total of 33 weeks. Split rotations will not be allowed.
Your eight fourth-year rotations must include rotations that fill the following four requirements:
1. Acting Internship from a Medical Specialty to be chosen from the following offerings:
- FM 850 - Acting Internship in Family Practice
- FM 854M - Acting Internship in Rural Family Practice in Hazard, KY
- FM 854H - Acting Internship in Rural Family Practice in Morehead, KY
- MED 870 - Acting Internship in Medicine
- MED 872/PED 872 - Acting Internship in Med-Peds
- NEU 850 - Acting Internship in Neurology
- OBG 863 - High Risk Obstetrics*
- PED 850 - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- PED 859 - Acting Internship in Pediatrics
- PED 878 - Pediatric Intensive Care
- PSC 841A - Acting Internship in Adult Psychiatry
- RBM 850 - Acting Internship in Rehabilitation Medicine
2. Acting Internship Selected from a Surgical Specialty to be chosen from the following offerings:
- OBG 850 - Gynecologic Oncology*
- OBG 854 - Clinical Clerkship in Obstetrics*
- SUR 851 - Acting Internship in Orthopedic Surgery
- SUR 852 - Acting Internship in Pediatric Surgery
- SUR 853 - Acting Internship in Otolaryngology
- SUR 854 - Acting Internship in Urology
- SUR 855 - Acting Internship in Plastic Surgery
- SUR 857 - Acting Internship in Transplant Surgery
- SUR 862 - Acting Internship in General Surgery
- SUR 862M - General Surgery in Morehead, KY
- SUR 863 - Acting Internship in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- NSG 864 - Acting Internship in Neurosurgery

* Your acting internships in Medicine and Surgery must be from different departments.

Electives
In addition to the three rotation requirements above, students have five periods (20 weeks) available for elective rotations of their choice. The Dean’s Colloquium will be held on a date to be determined during the week preceding graduation, and is required for graduation.
