Student AffairsThe Division of Student Affairs in the Office of Medical Education handles financial aid and scholarships, student records, issues related to student progress and promotions, and educational services for all medical students. Student Affairs also processes applications to the Fourth-Year Visiting Student Program. Jennifer Brueckner, PhD, assistant dean for Student Affairs, oversees all activities and provides academic, career and personal counseling for medical students. In addition, Dr. Brueckner coordinates the National Residency Matching Program. Beth Hartmann, registrar, registers medical students for courses, records grades, bills for tuition and fees, maintains all files on enrolled students and alumni, verifies enrollment and coordinates transcript generation. Julie McDaniel, director of Financial Aid, counsels students on their financial needs while in medical school and processes all loan applications and scholarship awards. Shirley Tipton, director of Student Services, assists medical students with academic support services, career planning, student government, student organizations, special events including orientation and graduation, and community service and other extracurricular activities. The office of Student Affairs also organizes the semiannual, Medical Center-wide Humanities Festival. **NEW - For information regarding the goals of the college, please visit the COM Goals and Objectives for the Educational Program Leading to the MD Degree page.
