General Information

Once a student has determined personal and family resources are not sufficient to finance a medical education, it is the student's responsibility to seek financial assistance. Please note that financial aid for all undergraduate and graduate health professions programs is handled by the main UK Student Financial Aid Office with the exception of the colleges of Medicine and Dentistry.

All students requesting financial assistance, both federal and institutional, must complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be completed online. The FAFSA contains a need-analysis formula that analyzes the financial resources and assets of the student and the family and results in a Student Aid Report (SAR) that is available to both the student and the college. The SAR also contains an expected family contribution (EFC) amount that is necessary for the school to determine the student's eligibility for need-based aid. The priority deadline for filing the FAFSA is April 1, however, the form can actually be completed anytime throughout the academic year. The University of Kentucky College of Medicine code number to include on the FAFSA is E00588. Failure to list the correct number will prevent the school from receiving the SAR (Student Aid Report).

Students at the graduate/professional level are considered independent and will qualify for most loan programs based on just the student's (and spouse, if applicable) financial information. However, should you wish to be considered for the following programs, be sure to include parent's income information on the FAFSA as it is a federal requirement regardless of the student's age and/or marital status:

Primary Care Loan Program (form-fill)
