Our Simulators
The College of Medicine offers advanced simulation training as a part of our curriculum. We use a combination of advanced skills trainers, clinical patient models and standardized patient scenarios to prepare our students for their medical practice. Our overall goals are to improve the quality of medical education and expand the limits of education technology The COMLC has a simulated emergency/operating room, twelve patient encounter rooms and a forty four seat computer/training room. The patient encounter rooms are equipped as a standard patient exam room found in many clinics and physicians offices. In addition to exam furniture, each patient encounter room has video recording capability. These rooms are best used for standardized patient encounters and the skill simulator trainers. The computer lab is equipped with forty four workstations. Each system has a secure login procedure to protect important data. The workstations can be customized to install client’s software or connect to internet resources. To facilitate lectures, a sixty inch flat panel display is available for presentations and video review. Presenters and students also have the option to bring their own laptops and connect to the video display or internet though the Learning Center’s wireless network. Our facility has the capability to video record any patient encounter or simulation scenario. The video system in centrally controlled for each equipped room, recorded locally, or exported to DVD format. Each student can carry a video record of their encounters for future review. CSTAC houses the following simulator to meet the testing needs of UK’s faculty and students. Please click on the link below for more information |
