Faculty Development Workshop Series

The Faculty Development Series couples a variety of multi-workshop sessions with a light lunch. These workshops offer the faculty member opportunities to develop as a teacher, clinician, and medical education researcher, to stimulate networking, and develop community among medical educators.

The Clinician as Educator: Enhancing Clinical Teaching Skills
Presented in conjunction with the Division of General Internal Medicine
Course Instructor: Mary Duke, M.D., Department of Internal Medicine

Based on the Stanford Faculty Development Program in clinical teaching, this seven-session workshop series will utilize a small group format to improve participants' teaching in the clinical environment. There will be extensive use of videotaped vignettes, videotaping of participants, small-group exercises and peer feedback. This series will be offered Aug. 2 through Sept. 27, 2007 from 11:30am - 1:30pm.  Date and room locations listed below.

Medical Education Research Fellowship Seminar Series
Course Directors: Carol Elam, Ed.D., director, medical education research and associate dean, Admissions and Institutional Advancement
Terry Stratton, Ph.D., assistant dean, Student Assessment and Program Evaluation, Office of Medical Education

The purpose of this fellowship is to help novice researchers understand the process involved in conducting research in medical education and to promote research collaboration and publication. Senior medical school faculty members who have published their work in the medical education literature will serve in the dual roles of session presenters and research role models. The 2007 fellowship program will be offered on Tuesdays, from 4 - 6p.m., Oct. 2 through Dec. 4, 2007.
