About the Center for Excellence in Medical EducationThe Center was established in 1992 with monies from a Robert Wood Johnson Grant. Initially named the Resource Center for Medical Education, RCME was charged in training faculty and staff in the use and implementation of problem-based learning. In 1995 RCME was renamed the Center for Excellence in Medical Education (CEME), a new mission was formulated and short and long-term goals were set. The major activities of the Center include Faculty Development Workshop Sessions, Workshop Series, and Medical Education Grand Rounds. The Center sponsors the Abraham Flexner Master Educator Awards Program and the annual College of Medicine Educators' Dinner. CEME is governed by a board of directors and an executive officer. The Center is advisory to the Dean of the College of Medicine and is based out of and funded through the budget of the Office of Medical Education.
