The Medical Alumni Association supports a variety of student activities throughout the year including:

White Coat Ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony, established in 1993 by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, is a modern rite of passage for first-year medical students. The inaugural ceremony was held at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Since then, nearly every medical school in the United States has adopted this significant observance for entering medical students. The ceremony includes a formal donning of the white coat, a universal symbol of compassion and humanism in medicine, along with a recitation of the Pledge of Professionalism.

Senior Brunch
Senior Brunch, held the morning of College of Medicine commencement, is a special tradition for graduating medical students, their family and friends, and College of Medicine faculty and staff to reflect on the graduating class’ time spent at the College of Medicine.

Hispanic Health Fair
Since 2000, medical students in the first-year class have organized this annual one-day event providing free health care information and basic medical screenings to the growing Hispanic population in Fayette County. Students from the Colleges of Dentistry and Agriculture also participate in the event.
