Staff that need to register outpatients must take (in this order) PM Outpatient Registration, and pass PM Outpatient Registration Certification. Although not required, Certification Practice is recommended so as to provide staff with the practice they will need to pass the certification exam. It is also recommended that all personnel have an e-mail account.

Outpatient Registration

Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this class.
Content: This very intensive class must be taken in the consecutive four-day period. During this four-day class, student learns ACE Inquiry functions and all facets of outpatient registration including basic registration, how to check and correct ACE data, and how to add information that is presented after the patient has been registered. The class contains 2 days of formal insurance training provided by the KMSF Insurance Specialist. If a student performs poorly during the computer training, the trainer will contact the supervisor to report the student is having difficulty. The supervisor may decide to have the student take the whole class again at a later date.
Access: If a student performs well in class, computer access allowing the student to register patients will be ordered after completion of this class. If a student does not perform well, the computer access for registration will not be ordered, and a trainer will contact the supervisor to discuss options for repeating classes to get the student up to the required competency level. Since the certification test is not given during this class, the student is required to take and pass the ACE Registration Certification class within a 60-day period following the class. If a student fails the certification test, the student may retake it a second time. Any student who does not pass the certification test within 60 days of the class will have his or her computer access to register patients revoked. Students will receive a competency checklist to give to their supervisor. Supervisors (or their designees) must fill out the checklist. The student must bring the completed checklist to the certification class. This checklist directs the student to practice all the registration functions with his/her "temporary password" so that the student can perform well on the certification.
