Staff must be certified to book appointments for patients. This requires taking (in this order): Introduction to Patient Management, RSS Inquiry, RSS Booking, and passing RSS Booking Certification. Completion of the ACE Out Patient Registration class can be substituted for the Introduction to Patient Management class. It is also recommended that all personnel have an e-mail account.

Intro to Patient
Management

Prerequisite: There is no prerequisite for this class.
Content: Students will learn how to logon and logoff the Patient Management (PM) system. Numerous inquiry functions in the PM system will be taught including how to view chart locations, physicians' numbers, patients' visit history and demographic information, etc. The basics of using BEEP, BPER, and the Net Learning systems will also be covered. There are no prerequisites for this class.
Access: Students must have supervisor permission to attend class and PM access must be part of the student's job functions. Computer access (user ID and password) to the PM program is requested for each student after successful completion of the class.

Inquiry

Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Introduction to Patient Management class or completed the ACE Out Patient Registration class.
Content: RSS is the patient appointment system which shows the patients scheduled appointments. Students learn how to view patients appointments, physicians schedules, and all types of resource schedules.
Access: The RSS password is given to each student during this class if they are registered 5 days in advance.

RSS Booking

Prerequisite: All students must complete RSS Inquiry before they are allowed to take this class.
Content: Students learn how to book patient appointments for existing and new patients, how to reschedule and cancel appointments, and more.
Access: The RSS Booking Certification class is required for this class and must be completed within a 60-day period following the class. Students who fail the certification test, may retake it within that 60-day period. Students who do not pass the certification test within 60 days of the class will have their computer access to book patient appointments revoked. Students may request the use of a "temporary password" from the trainer so that they can practice booking and perform well on their certification exam.

RSS Booking Certification

Prerequisite: Students must have completed the RSS Booking course to be allowed to take this test.
Content: Students must score 90 percent or above to pass the test.
Access: If students pass the test, their computer access (password) to register patients will become permanent. Students who fail the test, may take the test again within the 60 day period. Any student who does not pass the certification test within 60 days of the class, will have the computer access to book patient appointments revoked. The trainer will contact the supervisor of any student who fails the test to discuss options for repeating classes and/or the exam to get the student up to a required competency level. The exam may be taken only twice.

RSS Advanced
Booking

Prerequisite: RSS Booking Certification
Content: Topics include revising a daily template, online block and unblock, recurring appointments, creating a permanent appointment case, and handling problem scenarios.

Advanced Booking Certification

Prerequisite: RSS Advanced Booking class
Content: Students must score 90% or above to pass the test.
Access: The trainer will notify the supervisor of any student who fails the test. The certification exam may be taken only twice.
