Background

The Learning Center opened in August 1998 with a vision of providing a contemporary and aesthetically pleasing environment where UK Hospital employees can engage in educational activities which lead to overall improvement in the employees' job knowledge and performance.  We recognize that the most important component of a successful organization is a competent and dedicated staff.  Investment in the growth of individuals ultimately improves the quality of services the Hospital delivers.

The Learning Center comprises the physical facilities within the Hospital dedicated to classrooms, conference room, self-learning carrels, and learning resources which provide an environment conducive to learning. This physical space is administered by Staff Education Services, whose mission is to provide educational opportunities, resources and services in support of the operations and mission of UK Hospital.

Located within The Learning Center is a main classroom, which will accommodate 48 learners, a Computer Training Lab with 12 computer training stations, a small conference room, a clinical training room, and restroom and kitchenette facilities. In addition, a small workroom will provide four computers where individuals can work independently at Computer Assisted Instruction or in preparing materials for teaching.
