Occupational Safety and Health

Kentucky continues to have elevated fatal and nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses compared to overall U.S. rates. KIPRC is grounded in the belief that most workplace injuries are preventable through implementation of administrative, behavioral, and engineering controls. It is the goal of KIPRC occupational safety and health programs to improve occupational injury morbidity and mortality; identify state-specific occupational health priorities and issues; inform work-related standards, regulations, and interventions; and advance usefulness of occupational injury surveillance data at federal, state, and local levels for prevention of occupational injuries and hazards.

Occupational health and safety is a key focus area of research, education, and intervention in KIPRC. Programs in KIPRC provide a variety of broad and industry specific resources, including:

  • Annual reports
  • Intervention materials
  • Training videos
  • Interactive online training modules
  • Case investigation reports
