Fire Safety

Fires are a major cause of death and injuries in Kentucky and throughout the United States.  Residential fires are especially dangerous. Programs in KIPRC address issues concerning fire safety in several ways, such as by providing and installing smoke alarms and assisting with the development of fire escape plans. Additionally, educational opportunities are offered to everyone from children to those in the workforce on fire safety and prevention strategies.

What prevention methods are effective?

  • Working smoke alarms
  • Safer cigarettes
  • Elementary school-based education
  • Improved building codes
  • Fire investigation and arson detection
