Robert McCool, MS

Program Manager, Community Injury Prevention Program

Robert McCool is the manager for the Community Injury Prevention Program.  This program addresses the reduction on transportation related injuries, with a focus on motor vehicle-related injury prevention and child passenger safety, as well as residential fire prevention.  His interests include the application of sociological theories of behavior modification to public health problems, promoting better cooperation and coordination between public health and public safety organizations, and the development and implementation of training programs.  Robert also serves as the primary website developer for the Kentucky Safety and Prevention Alignment Network (KSPAN), Kentucky's injury control planning group.

 

A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with degrees in Computer Science and Criminal Justice, Robert is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Kentucky.  In addition to his public health injury prevention experience, he is a certified peace officer (law enforcement officer), and emergency medical technician, a rescue technician and rescue instructor, and a certified firefighter.  Along with serving as the CIPP program manager, Robert serves as a part time municipal police officer, the training officer for a volunteer rescue squad, and the assistant chief of a volunteer fire department.
