      Family Practice Notebook - An ongoing compendium of the diagnosis and management of common medical problems seen in Family Practice. Created by Scott Moses, MD.

      Griffith's 5 Minute Clinical Consult - A compendium of succinct, pertinent information about a variety of medical disorders. To facilitate quick, easy information retrieval each section is written to the same outline which emphasizes lists and a design avoiding lengthy text.

      MD Consult - A subscription based service of Elsevier, a world leader in healthcare and medical science publishing. MD Consult operates a family of electronic information resources that meet the clinical content needs of physicians and other health care professionals. Contains over 40 medical textbooks.

      The Merck Manual - An online version of the Merck Manual.

      MerckMedicus - Provides access to a variety of medical textbooks after a free registration.

      University of Iowa Family Practice Handbook - An online version of the 4th edition (2001) of this book.

    1. Medscape - A drug information search tool. The database combines information from the National Drug Data File with information from the American Hospital Formulary Service Drug Information. Free online use, but registration is required.

      MedlinePlus: Drug Information -
      Consumer-oriented online drug information resource created by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Provides information on thousands of prescription and over-the-counter medications.  Setup free membership.

      Health Technology Assessment Database - Contains information on healthcare technology assessments, ongoing projects, and publications produced in collaboration with the INAHTA Secretariat, based at SBU, Sweden.

      Cochrane Library - Comprehensive and reliable reviews from the Cochran Library.

      UpToDate -

      TRIP Database - A database created in 1997 to bring together all the 'evidence-based' healthcare resources available on the Internet. A subscription is required.

      Clinical Evidence - Provided by the BMJ Publishing Group, an international source of clinical evidence available electronically.

Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) - Created by the Department of Medicine, Toronto General Hospital, the goal of this website is to help develop, disseminate, and evaluate resources that can be used to practice and teach EBM for undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education for health care professionals from a variety of clinical disciplines.

      Centre for Health Evidence - A Canadian non-profit organization created by the Health Infostructure Support Program of the Canadian Office of Health. Its main purpose is to promote evidence-based medicine through its projects and partnerships.

        pdaMD.com's Learning Center - A tutorials section provides valuable         information and step-by-step instructions for all PDA users, from beginner

        National Guideline Clearinghous (NGC) Guideline Summaries - Available in a text format downloadable to the Palm-based Pesonal Digital Assistant (PDA). Includes instructions on how to download.

        Healthy PalmPilot - An extensive listing of medical content by file type, file category, and medical subspecialty. Contains a mixture of commercial and freeware products.

        Medical Pocket PC - Provides links to free and commercial software for Pocket PC users.

      1. BMI Calculator - A free body mass index calculator for Palm OS
        handhelds, from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

        BreastCa 1.0 - A free breast cancer risk prediction tool for the Palm Handheld. It is designed to be a fast, easy-to-use, and accurate implementation of two commonly-used models of breast cancer risk prediction: the Gail and Claus models. Developed by Phillip Cheng MD.

        EBM Calculator - Designed to calculate relevant statistics for diagnostic studies, prospective Studies, case control studies, and randomized control trials (rct). This is a palm version of the Stats Calculator.

        Growth Percentile Calculator - Calculates growth percentiles based on the June 2000 revision of the CDC Growth Charts for the United States. Allows you to rapidly calculate exact growth percentiles, z-scores and new BMI-for-age scores.

      ICD-9 Coding Tools - Three tools to help with ICD-9 coding provided by the Family Practice Management.

      ICD-10 - Information from the World Health Organization (WHO) about the ICD-10. The Tenth Revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems is the latest in a series that was formalized in 1893 as the Bertillon Classification or International List of Causes of Death.

    1. PubMed - PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, includes over 15 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950's. These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources. PubMed provides access to bibliographic information that includes MEDLINE, OLDMEDLINE.

      Medscape - CME credit, online medical textbooks and journals, patient education handouts, drug information, practice guidelines, medical news, daily updates. Medscape offers free, continuously updated continuing education activities for physicians and other health professionals.

    1. Family Doctor.org - American Academy of Family Physicians' web site containing printable health information for patients on a variety of topics.

      American Heart Association - Patient oriented information on prevention and treatment of heart attacks and strokes.

      American Diabetes Association - Patient oriented information on diabetes prevention and treatment.

      American Academy of Pediatrics - Parent oriented information on health and disease in childhood.

    1. Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) - STFM is dedicated to improving the health of all people through education, research, patient care, and advocacy.

      Centre for Health Evidence - A Canadian non-profit organization that engages in projects and partnerships that promote practice-based evidence. CHE is funded by grants and service contracts and is involved in many projects simultaneously. This allows us to incorporate learnings and best practices in diverse areas while at the same time creating a learning synergy. 

      Clinical Decision Making Calculators - A collection of clinical decision making calculators from the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

      The EBM Toolbox - Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine has a list of clinical calculators, under the "Specific Tools and Data" section, specifically for evidence-based medicine.

      Rural Family Medicine - Dedicated to providing resources for rural physicians and educators. 

      Internet Tutorials for Family Physicians - These tutorias were developed by AAFP members, John Faughnan, M.D., M.S., and Bob Elson, M.D., M.S. They provide an introduction to the internet and how to integrate it into one's medical practice.

      Stats Calculator - A critical appraisal tool that can be used for diagnostic test, prospective study, case-control study, and RCT trial statistics.

      Centre for Evidence Based Medicine - Provides general information about EBM and an assortmant of materials for practitioners of EBM.

      User Guide to the Cochrane Library - The National Institute of Clinical Studies (Australian) electronic training tool for the Cochrane Library. The Guide was prepared to help individuals get the most from the Cochrane Library. The Guide provides information about the purpose of the Library, who compiles it, the kind of information it contains, and how to search it.

      PubMed Tutorial - This is a Web-based learning program that shows you how to search PubMed, the National Library of Medicine's journal literature search system.

      SUNY Downstate Medical Center - An online course covering basic information about evidence-based medicine.

      Implementing Clinical Practice Guidelines: A Handbook for Practitioners - A guidebook for implementing guidelines into clinical practice provided by CMA Infobase.
