This position works in the Internal Medicine Group outpatient clinic servicing adult and pediatric patients. Duties include but are not limited to: preparing a patient for a visit (i.e. taking vitals, rooming, chaperoning exam), completing basic chart documentation, preparing ancillary test forms, assisting with patient education, retrieving lab results from computer & ancillary clinics, assisting in meeting the needs of each patient, scheduling and faxing consult appointments for patients, checking insurance information, obtaining authorizations, pre-certifications and consults, working with insurance specialists, obtaining ABN for testing on Medicare patients, and booking return appointments for patients using RSS.

This position is with the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Division and will participate in tumor biomarker discovery and tumor biology/immunobiology with primary projects focus on biomarkers and novel diagnostic assays for lung cancer.Primary responsibilities include: perform experiments as directed from supervisor involving assays that identify and measure tumor biomarkers in biological samples from cancer patients; implement and adapt established laboratory protocols; develop new methodology for measuring antibodies and protein in biological samples; catalog inventories of biological samples; organize and maintain large amounts of collected data; manage and process data as part of routine experimental analysis; perform laboratory maintenance including cleanliness and organization of lab; safety and other compliance with other institutional regulations; and order laboratory supplies.
