Patient ServicesInpatient Consultation The Division of Infectious Diseases provides a consultation service for inpatients at both the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The consult team is staffed by faculty and fellows as well as residents, students, and pharmacists on a rotating basis.
The Bluegrass Care Clinic is dedicated to the treatment of adults living with HIV/AIDS in central and eastern Kentucky. Because the Bluegrass Care Clinic is subsidized via funding under the Ryan White CARE Act, we are able to offer many services at reduced costs to adults living with HIV/AIDS in central and eastern Kentucky. The Infectious Diseases Clinic provides comprehensive infectious disease outpatient services. The Clinic treats a wide range of bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. The practice has a particular focus on the treatment of immunocompromised patients, including those who have undergone organ transplants. The Antibiotic Clinic manages the care of patients who require long-term intravenous antibiotics. The clinic treats a variety of conditions including osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, and endocarditis. Clinic staff work very closely with the UK Hospital Pharmacy and case managers, home health agencies, and UK Orthopedic Surgery and Cardiology to ensure well coordinated care.
Health Information In addition, The Kentucky AIDS Education and Training Center (KY AETC), located at the University of Kentucky, provides free HIV/AIDS training and consultation services to Kentucky healthcare providers. A warmline is available to healthcare professionals to access one-on-one consultations, patient-specific information, resources on HIV/AIDS topics, and other assistance.
