IntervieweesThe IBS Admissions Committee invites domestic students and international students in the U.S. whose applications have been favorably reviewed to visit the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. This offers prospective students the opportunity to meet with faculty whose research interests them, to meet our current graduate students and to tour our research facilities. During the visit, there is time for to ask questions about IBS and our doctoral programs. And, of course, we happily show off the lovely UK campus and the city of Lexington. Last but not least, this visit also provides the IBS Admissions Committee information they require about prospective students concerning their qualifications for admission. We normally have four group interviews during January, February and March each year which involve 10-15 prospective students. We also host individual visits for students unable to schedule time away from campus during the group interviews. Our visits follow one of two formats. For a broad introduction, prospective students interview with all doctoral programs equally. For a visit focused on one or two doctoral programs, interviews are scheduled with faculty in those selected areas. We cover the costs (travel, meals and hotel) of this visit to Lexington. For those flying into Lexington, we make flight arrangements but always check the flight itinerary with each prospective student prior to purchasing the tickets. |
