Admission to the Integrated Biomedical Sciences (IBS) is based upon academic background, GPA, letters of recommendation, performance on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and prior
research experience. Undergraduate coursework in organic chemistry, physical chemistry, calculus, physics, and the biological sciences is strongly recommended. Students must also meet the admissions requirements set by the Graduate School, including a four-year bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited institution of higher learning awarded prior to initiation of graduate studies.
Personal interviews provide critical perspectives for both the student and the Admissions Committee and are usually conducted by the IBS Admissions Committee, either by invitation to the UK campus or by phone.
IBS is designed for students beginning graduate studies in the fall semester. (Please note: IBS does not admit students in the spring.) Students entering with advanced degree status will be offered the opportunity to tailor an individual academic program based on prior coursework and research experience.
The IBS Application Process consists of two steps. Applicants must apply and be admitted to the Integrated Biomedical Sciences; they must also apply and be admitted to the UK Graduate School.
International students should refer to the specific admission requirements for international students on the UK Graduate School Web site.
