Doug is originally from Chillicothe, Ohio. He holds an M.S. in Exercise Physiology and is responsible for research project management and coordination for Dr. Charlotte Peterson, CHS Associate Dean for Research. Doug's responsibilities include:

  • Initiating, organizing and implementing clinical research projects
  • Providing accurate documentation on all subjects
  • Monitoring compliance and maintain regulatory documentation
  • Assisting with IRB and grant submission
  • Collecting and organizing data into facility database

Doug also performs exercise and functional testing for all research protocols for Dr. Peterson and other collaborators. He also perfoms tests in the Clinical Research Development and Operations Center (CR DOC). These include:

  • Maximal and submaximal graded exercise testing, ECG preparation and basic monitoring
  • Acute exercise stimuli testing
  • Strength assessments, using isometric, isotonic and  isokinetic instruments
  • Metabolic cart procedures, including basal metabolic rate, blood pressure monitoring, etc.
  • Multi-compartment model techniques, including hydrostatic weighing, air displacement plethysmography, anthropometry, and body water administration/processing
  • DXA and MRI scanning procedures
