Save the Date: 5th International Ankle Symposium
On May 30th, 2012 Physician Assistant students from the Morehead Campus attended a Legislative Luncheon and casting workshop hosted by the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and Northeast Area Health Education Center. House Majority Floor Leader Rocky Adkins (D-Sandy Hook) and Senator Walter Blevins (D-Morehead) met with students from the University of Kentucky Physician Assistant Program, Rural Physician Leadership Program and Pikeville School of Osteopathic Medicine to discuss community leadership and the legislative process. Following the luncheon students attended a casting workshop conducted by Dr. Brock Barnes, Chief Resident of St. Claire Regional Medical Center-Family Medicine. The CSD Division will be hosting Dr. Karen Banai from Haifa University on
Monday July 30th. Dr. Banai’s research interests include early
literacy (perception and anchoring), auditory plasticity (learning and
development in typical and clinical populations), speech-evoked brainstem
responses and reading and learning disabilities. She will present some of her
research on the 30th beginning at 4:30 PM (click
here for flier). There will be a reception for Dr. Banai at the home of Dr.
Gilson Capilouto immediately after and all are welcome.

knock on our door and inquire about undergraduate research opportunities for
summer & fall. We’ve been on a roll with providing opportunities for these

PAS Students Meet with Senator Rand PaulPAS students and faculty recently had the opportunity to meet with Senator Rand Paul at his Bowling Green office. Back to TopUndergraduate Research Enhancement Awards AvailableThe CHS Office of Research is pleased to announce the availability of Undergraduate Research Enhancement Awards (UREAs) for faculty mentoring undergraduates in research. Four UREAs of $500 each are available for Fall 2012. PIs could, for example, use these funds to provide students with a small stipend, support student travel to present undergraduate research work, or to purchase lab supplies necessary for their respective research programs. To apply for an award, please send an email to Cynthia Byars with a brief description of your work with undergraduates as well as a breakdown of how you plan to use the award. The deadline for applications is August 1, 2012. Applications will be reviewed by committee and awards will be announced by September 1.
