Richard “Dick” Kingston’s creativity and innovation in education.
The award consists of a small monetary grant, an individual plaque
and medal, and the addition of the recipient’s name to a master plaque.
This award initially (1984) “was instituted as a means for the
College to recognize, reward, and encourage innovation in the classroom,
laboratory, and clinic.” The Dick Kingston Award was
originally developed to recognize a creative, innovative, original teaching
project or “product” that directly supports the academic focus of the
College of Health Sciences (CHS) and has been shown to be directly
beneficial to CHS students. In 1991 the focus of the Kingston Award
was broadened to also recognize outstanding contributions and/or long term
consistent excellence in teaching.
