Wyant to Present at AAPA National Conference in Las VegasDr. Andrew Wyant has been selected to speak at the national conference of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), to be held in Las Vegas from May 30 – June 4. Wyant will be delivering a presentation titled “Trauma in Pregnancy,” which highlights the challenge of “caring for two patients in one” in the setting of significant traumatic injury to the mother. Congratulations to Physician Assistant Studies student Stephanie Murphy, who was recently awarded the Dallas and Donna Lipscomb/Veterans Caucus Scholarship and the Physician Assistant Foundation Scholarship, both from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Back to Top2011–2012 Education Enhancement Grants AwardedThe purpose of the Education Enhancement Grants is to “provide CHS faculty with resources to support the development and implementation of innovative and educational initiatives to improve student learning.” These grants provide up to $3,000 to conduct the projects. At the conclusion of the project period, awardees provide a written report of project outcomes to be posted on the Academic Affairs website. Past Kingston Award winners and Education Enhancement Grant recipients, Kim Campbell, Gerry Gairola and Lynn English, along with Sharon Stewart made up the grant review committee. The grants represented an interesting and exciting array of topics and disciplines. Recipients and Titles of funded grants for 2011-2012 are as follows:
Second Annual Sports Concussion Summit 2011
The 2nd Annual Sports Concussion Summit will feature experts in the field of clinical practice dealing with the prevention and management of sport-related concussions. This conference is designed to review current practices in the prevention, recognition of concussions, and management of sport-related concussions. Please use the template located in the College Meeting Agenda (dated 5/20/11) and forward your opportunities to Cynthia Byars. We encourage you to think outside the box with regards to research opportunities or needs– everything from database entry to formatting to phone surveys, etc. These opportunities will be added to the CHS Undergraduate Research website, which is currently being developed.
