New College Grants Officer
Please extend a warm welcome to our new College Grants Officer, Nan Rice, who begins on February 2. Nan comes to the College of Health Sciences from the Department of Pediatrics with UK Healthcare. She has extensive experience with grant pre-award procedures and providing support to research investigators. Prior to working in Pediatrics she also assisted the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department with research and grant related functions. Nan will be located in the Office of Research, CTW 105. Andrew Wyant, MD, has started producing the college’s first content for iTunesU. Currently, two 30-minute lectures accompanying his Principles of Human Physiology course are available, with several more in production. Paleontology, the study of ancient life, may have the answer, and no one has probably done more to further this kind of understanding in the field than Jack Horner, a world-renowned paleontologist who studies dinosaurs. Jack is coming to Lexington in February at the invitation of the Kentucky Section, American Institute of Professional Geologists, to tell us about the dinosaurs that still live with us — the birds — and how we might use them to create modern dinosaurs.
