CHS Soap Drive

The CHS Student Ambassadors are leading a semester-long Soap Drive to benefit the residents of Shady Lawn and Parkside Manor in Cynthiana. As many of you know, our own Linda Allen generously devotes much of her time to the residents of these homes.

You can help by bringing bars of soap or other toiletries (shampoo, lotion, etc.) to the Office of Student Affairs, CTW 111. These items are part of the everyday routine for us, but to the residents of Shady Lawn and Parkside Manor, these items are a small luxury. The goal is 1,000 bars. Click here to download the flyer.

Honorary Degree Nominations Open

The University Joint Committee on Honorary Degrees solicits nominations for honorary doctoral degrees to be awarded at the University Commencement exercises in December 2014.  Nominations may be made by faculty, students, staff, and friends of the University of Kentucky. The Committee will follow the criteria, principles, and guidelines approved by the University Senate and Board of Trustees.

An honorary degree pays tribute to those whose lives and work exemplify professional, intellectual, or artistic achievement and who have made significant contributions to society, the state, and the University of Kentucky.  For information on criteria and the nomination process, as well as the list of previous recipients, please visit the Graduate School’s Honorary Degrees webpage at http://www.research.uky.edu/gs/About/honorary_degrees.html.

Lead nominators who are assembling a nomination dossier should upload the completed document at the link on the website. The deadline for submitting a completed nomination dossier is Thursday, May 1, 2014.

Please direct any questions to Dr. Morris Grubbs (at morris.grubbs@uky.edu) or Dr. Jeannine Blackwell (at jblack@email.uky.edu) in the Graduate School.
