CPH Hall of Fame Nominations

The University of Kentucky College of Public Health Hall of Fame was established in 2004 to honor persons who, over their lifetime, have made exceptional contributions to the health and welfare of citizens in the Commonwealth, our Nation, and/or the world.

Since 2004, a total of 47 outstanding persons have been inducted into the College’s Hall of Fame.  On behalf of our College, the Hall of Fame Selection Committee at this time cordially invites nominations for consideration in the 2014 review process.

The Nomination Form specifies the selection criteria and eligibility for this lifetime achievement award. Using this format, nominations for 2014 awards should be submitted by mail, email, or fax on or before May 2, 2014. If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact either Brooke Melanson or Dr. Angela Carman.

UK HealthCare Invites Nominees for American Red Cross 2014 Heroes Campaign

As a sponsor of the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross 2014 Heroes Campaign, UK HealthCare has the opportunity to nominate an individual for Hero of the Year. The requirements are simple: The person needs to be making a positive impact in his or her community by helping/supporting those facing challenges or who are less fortunate. UK HealthCare’s nominees in 2013 and 2012 were both honored with the Hero of the Year title from a pool of incredibly generous and caring individuals. UK HealthCare is full of heroes, employees who not only help the community through their daily work providing care here, but who extend that spirit into their personal lives to make a difference for others in the community. Please send any suggestions for a colleague at CHS who fits this description to Melanie Sparks. The deadline for submitting a nominee is April 1.

CHS Soap Drive

The CHS Student Ambassadors are leading a semester-long Soap Drive to benefit the residents of Shady Lawn and Parkside Manor in Cynthiana. As many of you know, our own Linda Allen generously devotes much of her time to the residents of these homes.

You can help by bringing bars of soap or other toiletries (shampoo, lotion, etc.) to the Office of Student Affairs, CTW 111. These items are part of the everyday routine for us, but to the residents of Shady Lawn and Parkside Manor, these items are a small luxury. The goal is 1,000 bars. Click here to download the flyer.
