The CHS Office of Research is pleased to announce the availability of
Undergraduate Research Enhancement Awards (UREAs) for faculty mentoring
undergraduates in research. Three awards of $500 each are available for spring
2014. Faculty may use these funds to support student travel to present
undergraduate research work, or to purchase lab supplies necessary for their
respective research programs.
Registration for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research is now open here. Early-bird registration for students is $185; $225 on-site. Costs for students whose abstracts are accepted will be covered by the University. Faculty early registration is $195; $225 on-site. A preliminary program is also posted on the website. Teaching and Learning Conference CFP
Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondary Education is sponsoring a one-day conference May 16 entitled “Practicing Scholarly and Creative Teaching.” The conference will be held in the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity at EKU. The Call for Proposals can be found here and the proposal submission form is located here. Deadline for submissions is February 1. UK employees now have the option of accessing W-2 statements online. The new
Safe, Swift, Sustainable W-2 program will allow faculty, staff and students
currently employed by UK to receive W-2 forms through the Employee
Self Service portion of
Employees who enroll give the University consent to only provide their W-2s online. Instructions on how to give consent are available here. Consent must be given by Saturday, January 18, 2014. Enrolled employees will no longer receive a paper W-2 in the mail but will be able to view and print their W-2 at an earlier date.
As an incentive to sign up, employees who enroll by the
January 18 deadline will be eligible for a random drawing for prizes that
include UK basketball game tickets and one pair of airline tickets .

Career Relaunch Workshop Designed for Women
The University of Kentucky Alumni Association offers a plethora of career service programs. One of them, focusing on women wishing to remake their lives, begins in a few weeks.
The five-week Career Relaunch Workshop serves as a soul searching, career exploration group for women at a crossroad in their lives. This group will include women returning to the workforce and those ready for a job change but not sure where to go next. The small group will participate in exploration and journal exercises, assessments and a rich personal discovery curriculum. Find out more here.
