 Schuer Receives Rising Star Award

Kevin M. Schuer, PA-C, MPH has been selected as the 2013 recipient of the Rising Star Award from the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). The award will be presented to Schuer at the Fall 2103 PAEA Annual Education Forum in Memphis, TN. The Rising Star award is given to a program faculty member with three to seven years of service who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research or other scholarly activities, administration, and professional service. This national award has been presented by PAEA to notable program faculty since 2004 and has a distinguished list of previous award recipients. Schuer has been an active member in leadership in both the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) serving as the chair of the AAPA’s quality care working group, as well as serving as invited instructional faculty to PAEA’s Basic Skills Certificate Program. The UK Center for Muscle Biology and UK CHS welcome Nadine Connor, PhD, Associate Professor, Depts. of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Surgery, Research Director, Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Join us for a Physiology Seminar, “Plasticity in Lingual and Laryngeal Muscles,” Wednesday, September 11, from 3 to 4 p.m., MN463. Dr. Connor will be available to meet with RHB and CSD academic and clinical faculty and students for a Round Table Discussion, Thursday, September 12, from 9 to 10:00 a.m., CTW 127 (Commons).

Media Depot Grand Opening August 27

The Media Depot Grand Opening event is Tuesday, August 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the basement of W.T. Young Library. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. UK President Eli Capilouto, Provost Dr. Christine Riordan, Senior Vice Provost Dr. Vince Kellen and several other UK administrators plan to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Snacks will be served. Plus, capture a fun image using the Media Depot’s mini studio featuring a “green screen.” You choose the adventure, then the Depot will TWEET the image so everyone can share your fun.
