Back to Top 2013-2014 Distribution of Effort Process

It is time for faculty to begin preparing their 2013-2014 Distribution of Effort Forms. All faculty should have received an email with the DOE Memo outlining the timeline (PDF) and Instructions for the DOE Calculation Worksheet (PDF). New faculty members should download a blank DOE Calculation Worksheet from the link below. Returning faculty members should use the final copy of the work sheet provided to your division directors last year and make corrections/updates as necessary.

The forms will also be located on the Academic Affairs website under the Distribution of Effort tab.

The Fourth Annual Conference on Meeting the Therapy Needs of Infants, Toddlers and Children with Disabilities in Rural Communities will be held on Saturday, March 9 at CHS. This conference focuses on serving the needs of rural occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists who desire increased competency in the provision of evidence-based practice service delivery and increased understanding of diversity issues for infants, toddlers and children with disabilities in early intervention or school-based settings.  

The major focus of this conference is on the intersection of Policy, Advocacy, and the Best Practice of Related Services Personnel. A summary and the specific objectives for each session are provided in the conference schedule.

Ankle Study Seeks Participants

Do you keep re-spraining your ankles? Researchers in the CHS Musculoskeletal Lab are looking for volunteers who have weak ankles from past ankle sprains to participate in a clinical research study. Click here to view the flier.

Back to Top Remember to Use Ricoh Printing

Please remember that we are no longer to use FedEx Office for printing services. The new Ricoh Centers are now up and running.

The Ricoh Document Service Centers, located at White Hall Classroom Building, Medical Center, and W.T. Young Library, are now fully operational and functioning to serve departments’ document needs. New state-of-the-art printing and finishing equipment has been installed at each location. Ricoh provides courier service to departments for pickup and delivery of materials. Extended hours are available for rush or overnight jobs as needed. All services offered by the centers are also available to employees or students for personal purchase.

Formation of the on-campus Document Service Centers is a key component of the University’s strategic efforts to better manage document output through its Managed Print Services agreement with Ricoh.

Visit and click the icon entitled “Document Service Center” for information about the centers. The website includes a listing of available services, locations and hours of operation for each center, phone/email contact information, and file upload capability. Departments can electronically submit jobs via the website by completing the DSC Request Form for the location of their choice. The above website also provides access to the Managed Print Services and Student Printing Services components of the larger Ricoh agreement.

Women Leading Kentucky Scholarships Available

Women Leading Kentucky is now offering scholarships for female undergraduate students (freshmen, sophomores, juniors) who are enrolled fulltime at a Kentucky college or university. Students should have a GPA of 3.0 or better and demonstrate leadership abilities on campus and/or in their community. Awards of $1,000-$1,500 are available. Please share this information with eligible students. Applications are due February 1, 2013. Click here for further information & application.

Human Development Institute Presentation

The UK Human Development Institute (HDI) will present a two-hour seminar from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15 titled "Universal Design for Learning: Tools That Promote Excellence in Higher Education and Community Learning."

Registration is available through this flier and you may select your preferred Lexington venue or statewide location which is hosting the Seminar through live, interactive video-conferencing.

Universal Design for Learning is a professional development concept that strives to make learning accessible to all students, no matter their individual backgrounds. This seminar will provide participants with a framework and skills to incorporate universal design for learning (UDL) strategies in a variety of settings. Attendees will gain an understanding of UDL concepts. This seminar will provide a basic tool kit of skills to use when approaching teaching and learning. Attendees will also be presented with examples of innovative uses of UDL elements from working with post-secondary learners in higher education and human services.
